The Story Behind Yesterday’s Closet
My love for fashion began long before Yesterday’s Closet ever existed.
When I was very young, my grandmother became the woman who raised me, guided me, and shaped so much of who I am today. She took me in as her own and became the biggest female influence in my life. From the way she dressed, to the handbags she carried, to the way she styled her hair, she always had an effortless sense of style that I admired.
Growing up, shopping at expensive stores wasn’t always realistic, so she introduced me to thrift stores. We would drive all around Miami searching through racks, discovering pieces, and finding beauty in things that other people had overlooked. At the time, I didn’t realize those days were teaching me one of the biggest skills I would eventually build my business around: sourcing.
My grandmother also held onto so many of her clothes and accessories from the 80s and 90s. Years later, I found myself going through those pieces, styling them in new ways, mixing decades, and creating outfits that felt completely different from what everyone else was wearing.
For a long time, my style wasn’t always understood. I was sometimes made fun of for dressing differently, but I never stopped seeing fashion the way I did. Eventually, the very things that made me stand out became the things people began to admire most about my style.
That perspective is what inspired Yesterday’s Closet.
I’ve always believed there is something special about fashion from the past. While the world is constantly chasing what is newest, I’m drawn to the pieces that already have history—the forgotten designers, iconic silhouettes, rare handbags, vintage clothing, and details that deserve to be seen again.
Yesterday’s Closet is my way of bringing those pieces back to life.
It represents everything I grew up loving: the thrill of finding something special, the creativity of styling something unexpected, and the belief that great fashion never really disappears.
What started with my grandmother taking me thrift shopping around Miami eventually became my eye for sourcing, my love for vintage, and the business I always felt I was meant to create.
Yesterday’s Closet is more than a collection of vintage pieces. It is a reflection of where I came from, what inspired me, and everything that taught me to see beauty in yesterday.
